I don't mind the art style change but I wish the designs for the non player characters were more diverse instead of all being different variations of the students makes the game kinda bland to not have all the different trainer types in it. I didn't play the DLC for SV though so I don't know if they fixed it a bit in those.

It was terrible. It's like Pokemon wanted to be "realistic" and "next gen" so bad but couldn't commit with all the silly anime designs and the PS2 graphics. Should've kept the SwSh cell shading.

I *hate* SV's lack of black outlines and I truly hope they come back. I also think it's a mistake to give mons so much texture. Part of the appeal is that they're cartoons. No use in trying to make them "more real".

Yeah definitely. I don't get why they're trying to go for the realistic looking textures for environments and Pokemon, especially with how low quality they are. The should really lean in on the cartoony cel shading. I actually like like the way the Pokemon's models look in SwSh's battle, think they should have kept trying to get the look closer to the 2D artwork.

When people make this thread, I think people confuse artstyle with art direction

In the base game for example the game has a shitton of ugly NPCs to portray the academy is open to everyone while in teal mask the female deliquent for example has a better 3D model than Sonia, Nessa or Bea that have garbage ED models aand are carried by shilling and fanart.

People still deny that this shit is made on porpouse when the woman that made Lusamine also made Geeta, despite the target there are some women that look good in 3D miles better than the SWSH cast

The named/important NPCs for the most part have good or at least memorable designs.
But just like everything else in the game, somethings feel rushed. The protag design is one of them. Even more so when most NPCs are wearing the same fucking uniform.

The DLC should have ended with Team Star teaching the school that Uniforms are fucking gay and boring, but no. They all got buck broke by the protag and his quest to bully the weak in to compliance around the world.
