Black and White on release. It's not as bad now going back to it, but I will never forget the feeling of playing that shit for the first time. Having no prior generation pokemon until the post game made it feel like a knock off.

More interesting world and story
You have to rematch the Elite 4 in order to become champion, giving the player a reason to do anything Postgame.
Plus you can hack in mons, so it's regional dex is a non issue.
