N is supposedly raised in the wild by pokemon but we only ever see NFE pokemon in the scenes with young link. I think there's a zoroark not shown in the cutscenes, that filled the parent/guardian role, possibly the zoroark we meet in lostlorn forest or killed by ghetsis/plasma when they got N. N consciously or unconsciously keep his hair similar to his former friend and guardian.
