It was absolute kino, and is a way for the musicians to show their talent and love for the soundtrack, while making the game feel more fresh and modern.

Probably because it's a big step up from 8 bit to a fully rendered orchestral score. Once remakes caught up with technology that could reproduce it adequately, there was no need.

Besides, they reuse old motifs and put them in new contexts. For example, the re-scored Driftveil theme for the Coastal Diome in Indigo Disk.

I assumed you meant remaking the original soundtrack. The Gameboy/Gameboy colour had a far more limited sound range than the Advance or the DS. Gens 1/2 are sketches while Gens 3 onwards are the whole picture. There's no detail to fill in. That's all. What else could you possibly mean?

I believe OP is talking about how Cianwood and Ecruteak have the same music, but in different styles to fit the motif of the town.

Look no further than USUM having a bunch of old legendary battles but with the original themes instead of making new remixes.
