The reason wild male salandit can't evolve is due to its lifestyle according to the dex. There should be no reason a captive male salandit can't evolve, unless it completely lost the ability to, which the dex doesn't say.

Just give the male salandit the same bullshit evolution method as bisharp needs to evolve into Kingambit. This way you can choose between scouring for a famel salandit to evolve easily, or capture a male salandint and go through all the hoops needed for it to evolve

If they really wanted to hammer it in that it's biologically impossible for a modern male Salandit to evolve, they should've went the Stantler approach and said "it used to have potential but then lost it because it became devoted to Salazzle on a completely instinctual level" but the current phrasing implies all it takes is to raise your male Salandit from birth, ensure it's never exposed to a Salazzle, and feed it only the best diet it could possibly ask for to give it the nutrients needed to evolve, but in actuality that doesn't work because the nigger's apparently instinctively starving himself for the sake of a dommy queen who doesn't exist.

Anon, that's as good as saying their ability to evolve got bred out the species. If the Salazzle only mated with cowed salandit, then those male offspring would have a preledictation to being nice cowed little boys, vs the more independently-minded males who may have been able to evolve, but didn't get a ride when they had, ensuring they died out.
