As they should be. Gen 5 wasn't overhated, it is underrated by detractors and overrated by fans. Contrary to all the revisionism on this board and other echo chambers across the internet, it was just more Pokémon on the DS to most people. That's it. It wasn't met with hate but apathy.

Like it or not, Gen 6 brought Pokemon into a new age and people fondly remember that. 3D, a new type, and new combat gimmick meant far more in the long run than the story of BW or the sheer amount of content in B2W2. Even today there is a minority that would have preferred BW remakes to the Pokémon Legends set in Kalos. That alone shows how out of touch a significant portion of the fandom is. The hatred they have toward the past (Gen 1) and the future, which Gen 6 represented in perfect symbiosis. But that hate is really just envy and spite for Gen 5 being overlooked, which is unfair but not unreasonable. Gen 6 mattered in a way Gen 5 simply never could and that's all there is to it
