Pokemon Games

No.55661868 View ViewReplyOriginalReport
Here is a question I have.
How does anyone manage to play Pokemon games?

I played Mario games and other PC games as a kid.
Then Pokemon did come out.
I was obsessed over it and played it a lot.
Then I did get out of it in Gen 2.

I tried to come back into these games however I literally can not.
They are so boring to me.

The most boring part has to be that the pokemon type system is so stupid.
>Oh look the opponent used a fire type!
>Switch to a water type!

This was fun for a child however for a grown man it is incredibly boring.

These games are painfully made for children on a extreme level since only a child can get excited over switching and memorizing pokemon types.
>WOW Ice monster! I Destroy it with y fire monster! So logical!

Now many of you can scream that I can not enjoy games made for children.

However I played lots of mario and kirby games and liked them all.

I also played a Steven Universe RPG on a dear and actually liked it.
The story of that game was generic crap however the combat was OK.

I find the pokemon games incredibly boring since they are not spicing it up. It is always the same starters and crap normal types around your first town with a gradual increase in better pokemon types like fire in the late game.

If I ever remade pokemon games I ditch the 1 V 1 turn based combat. And absolutely abandon the type advantages as they are.

I also think I made something like the hybrid combat systems of Paper Mario and Steven universe where a quick reactant can save you or do more damage.

Maybe I rework the type system to instead being the combat benefit int something over world related like in Paper Mario where for example only if you have a water type pokemon in your party can you fish for bonus items when there is whirlpool in the water. Or use fighting type to smash rocks who are slightly split to get bonus items or money.

What do you think /vp/?
