>>55665205>Removing the poster count might drive even more users away.People have made a whole bunch of reasons as to why the IP counter got nuked, but in retrospect, I feel like /vp/ is the perfect example why - it already has the usual 4chan problem of "fake engagement" (driveby shitposters, literal bot posts, Discord raids, constant ban evaders, hell the latter of which is especially indicative of why the IP counter really didn't mean much in the end, particularly with mobile data and VPN/Passfags), but /vp/'s combo of moderate speed and singular subject matter in particular makes it pretty easy to see the actual "rot" taking place; this board has such low-functioning giga autists that a thread can hit bump limit with around 30-40 IPs or so (and not even factoring in the mentioned fake engagement problems), and when you see something like that, your typical response is to just move on and act like you didn't see anything.
By removing the IP counter, I'm convinced that the staff are desperately trying to put a bandaid over a site that's not dying in physical activity (at least I say so; funny enough, I've come back to /v/ in recent weeks and I've seen several people complaining that /v/ is slow "now", so I wonder what's happened), but is dying in terms of people who genuinely want to use it as a real imageboard and not a stomping ground for people who about a single notch above feral child levels of cognitive functioning.
