What would be the point in him showing up? Him being a successful trainer would be absolutely stupid and him being a standard always conveniently away for work dad adds absolutely nothing if he ever showed himself.

They never wanted him to be a character. The closest we'll ever get is the Takeshi Shudo novels where he's a deadbeat dad who refuses to come home because he failed as a Pokemon Trainer.
