Do you think they’ll ever make a starter that’s part Bug type?
The Bug type is unique in that it also represents the species of creature that the Pokémon is. Because of this there aren’t any Pokémon that gain the Bug type through evolution- they all start as bugs and continue to be bugs. Therefore, it is likely that a starter Pokémon that is part Bug would be part Bug from its first stage. There haven’t been any starters whose first stages aren’t 2x weak to either Fire, Water or Grass. This is to keep things relatively balanced at the beginning. Grass/Bug has a lot of weaknesses and is 4x weak to Fire, while Water/Bug is neutral to Grass.
With all that in mind, I believe that Fire/Bug is the most likely candidate. It only has three weaknesses and a 2x weakness of Water.
A Fire/Bug, possibly based on a fire ant or a firefly, could be a cool and unique starter mon. How would you design a Bug starter?
