Because they hate you, Gen 2 fans in particular. Gen 2 is the Wacky Deli of Pokemon, intentionally made to be babyish bland garbage, but Johtimmies were too stupid to realize they were the butt of the joke and ate it up. Then when Masuda traveled to the desert to create his Magnum Opus (BW), no one appreciated it, so he lost it mind and trooned out (Gen 6, Fairy types, and CHARIZARD forms).

They didn't? In the parts that matter, i.e. collecting and playing the single player, you can use any pokémon, no matter how "bad" you think it is.

PVP is just for turbo weirdos. You will never see a normal, regular person that's into the PVP, especially appearance-wise.

Which faulty argument? It's a game for kids. The only times Silver ""breaks the rules"" they tell you explicitely he does so (he steals the starter and another pokemon in Cyanwood)
They also tell you he tried to give back his starter
If he didn't have the badges for the league, the would have told you as well
