I think pokemon is still dystopic, just being depressed is much harder there where you can befriend or brainwash a magical creature which will do things for you. And even just the company of a magical creature is outstanding when in comparison people use cats and dogs for that purpose
It do be also less dystopic than earth in the sense that antagonistic teams are actually antagonistic to the pokemon society rather than just the same sick retardation with another name like it's in this society
Other than that though, things are pretty bad, and not everyone's needs are met at all. There's just less outcasts and less depression, though the outcasts there are much stronger than they are here. And also down syndrome doesn't exist (even though the game protagonists get close)
