The target demographic isn't 16-34 year old adult male gamers, thus they don't need to care as heavily about that shit. The causal market doesn't care, the children that are absolutely don't care, because they can look past deficits to buy into the premise. The formula that they have developed and the underlying mechanics associated with them, as well as the intricate battling system excuses the poor performance/graphics and recently the barebones take on features. This is why GameFreak has such a hard time deviating away from that formula at all and why their other games don't do great.

Where do they buy spin-offs to prove this? Or are you one the paint-eaters think the games made specifically to keep kids spending money on TPC-produced shit actually were pinnacles of the industry at the time? 'Cause if so, I got a nice bridge to sell you.

gamefreak is a small indie studio unironically
they have unlimited money but they choose not to spend it on expanding their teams
also nobody at the company knows how to make games in HD, polish and production value were much higher even in the 3DS era
