What happened? Every other game they've released has genuinely good qualities even amid the bad but everything here is just so underwhelming.

Probably also because are more forgiving for a handheld game, but now that the games are on console for $60, they're held to higher standards.

Consider the amount of postgame stuff in B2W2. There's lots of places to explore and loose ends from the story that get finished, as well as more legendaries to find.
The compare that to SWSH or SV where almost all your postgame play is doing raids. Sure the DLC adds some, but at additional cost, and when you're through the short story parts of those it's just more raids.
