DP are commonly criticized for slowness and a shitty dex, so tourists who just remembered that Pokémon exists a few days ago will come on here and parrot those opinions when asked for their thoughts on DP. Platinum, on the other hand, by virtue of being a third version with a battle frontier and other such added content, is commonly praised as one of the best games in the franchise alongside Emerald, HGSS, BW2, etc, so those same tourists will then parrot those opinions when asked about Platinum. Though not obvious, their internal logic is actually consistent, it just has nothing to do with the actual games. Rather, their logic is to treat the most popular opinions as their own in order to play it safe and be "right" as often as possible.
Of course, anyone who actually thinks for themselves and develops their own opinions will either love both DP and Platinum, or hate them both, because, obviously, they're basically the same fucking game in all the ways that matter. That's not to say Platinum isn't better, just that anyone who considers these games as a whole rather than just factoring in surface level details will have similar opinions of both games proportional to their overall similarity AS games.
