>>55765773>Doubles campaign wouldn't prep you for VGC because Gamefreak will still have you fighting 0 EV shitmons. While true, it would at least get you more comfortable with the format and even open up experimentation to the more creative minds. Coming up with ideas on how to completely clown the random trainers is much more fun in a doubles format due to the extended amount of possibilities. Skill Swap Slaking is a classic, for example, and is something you cannot pull off in a singles format. But as it is now, even Scarlet/Violet has wiped doubles off the face of the earth prior to post-game.
Again, I'm not asking for harder games, but streamlining a more standardized format. Leaving doubles for post-game means newer players are going to enter battle facilities, try out doubles, curbstomp a few intentionally bad teams and then quickly counter-teamed with comp builds with illegal stats because GF can't balance for shit, and then promptly return to singles because that's what they've been playing the entire campaign and are more comfortable that way. They start hyper focusing on the singles format in the battle facility and, if they're serious about learning competitive, ultimately become a smogonfag.
If GameFreak wants Doubles to be the official format, they should try to focus more on it in the main campaigns, or at least make it more accessible. But I guess having 4 Pokemon on the screen at once is too much for their small indie game running on hardware that's been outdated since 2003.
