It feels like a mistake they never corrected since Gourgeist is also a Grass/Ghost trade evolution from Kalos, which I can kind of see the intent there with encouraging the trading of the different forms. Maybe they intended them to be version exclusives before they came up with the form differences for Gourgeist.
