I'll go with this.
Snivy for stage recovery with it's vines and special attacks.
Dewott for fast combos attacks.
Emboar for charge attacks.
I know their types lines up with Red and his team, but the pokemon themselves just fit the roles better.

I want to see Serperior double jumping around and picking up items with its tiny hands. Imagine it swinging around a beam saber, lifting crates, and firing the superscope with the little nub hands

it's never ever happening but Wes with espeon/umbreon, quilava/croconaw/bayleef, and plusle (depending on which recolor you are you the mons change) would be dope.

For Gen 2: Chikorita, Quilava, Feraligator
Gen 3: Torchic, Grovyle, Swampert (I know how popular Blaziken is but we need some sort of heavy for this lineup)

Other anons can better way in on later gens, plus I don't feel their designs are as consistently good.

idk I think Blaziken could work as a heavyweight a la Falcon or Ganondorf.
Although I would probably pick Swampert too just because I like him better, but I think Mudkip & Blaziken are more iconic.
