Never mind the fact, despite the reaction the adults online have had over the series of late, its sales have never been as strong, while also having a console SO widely accepted (and the fact they waited until they had the kiddySwitch model ready before launching a "proper" pokémon game on the system). We know for a fact the lion's share of Gens3-7's sales were kids on average, because the only system the adults bought during that period was the DS and even then, pokémon's sales were only a million higher than the previous Gen (unlike either of Switch's Gens which have sold 8-10m more than Gen 6/7, muddying the waters somewhat. Lot of adults buying, but also a kiddy model means a lot of kids having an in to Pokémon too). Ultimately, it comes down to trusting the factors at play years ago still hold true today and given it's still going HAM, it's hard to imagine they've utterly abandoned them.
