Megas dead-end pokemon lines. Mawhile's, Sableye's, etcs mega should have just been a regular evolution. But since they got a mega they will never get a regular evolution.
The only pokemon that "need" a mega evolution are pokemon that already have 2 evolutions like Luxray. Otherwise it cripples their future(and viability, since no-evolution shitmon with a mega has no option but to run mega)

Luxray was lucky to avoid Electric/Dark typing. Dark and Fighting types really are just a liability at this point. Fairy is so busted and half the dex is either secondary Fighting or secondary Dark.

She should have been the second evolution right from the start. RSE did her dirty, ORAS did her worse.
Aggron also should have been pure steel, instead they made him quad-weak to Earthquake and Brick Break.

For those ones that already look 'final stage', yeah. But they would also need to receive a buff in their base form, otherwise they're only good when Mega'd which just feels like shit, both in singleplayer and online.
A prevo for some of them would be nice, since it would justify a buff to the final evo. But that's effort, and it's easier to just tweak the numbers/abilities/movesets.

When it comes to buffing Pokemon, the community doesn't really get the idea of not making weaker Pokemon worse than they already are. Same with Bug/Dragon Flygon which isn't even a buff but some shit overreaction from Flygonfags being asshurt over Garchomp.

Normal evos are weaker than megas. Also, evolving a Pokemon turns it into a completely different Pokemon (see Obstagoon), so it’s not really “fixing” it. Meanwhile, Megas are still the same Pokemon they were in base, just better

It wouldn’t even really break Pikachu. Volt Tackle’s issue isn’t its damage, it’s that Pikachu has no HP, so it can’t use it more than once without killing itself from recoil. Making it do MORE damage would just make Pikachu’s one kill before dying a little more reliable.

I can agree with that. Though some two-stage lines I feel are strong enough that a Mega for the final evolution is fine.
But your main point is why I'd really like to see a Mightyena evolution rather than a Mega. But I wouldn't say no to an evolution that can then Mega Evolve, I just don't see them double-dipping on a random Pokemon like that.

You can do way fucking worse than Aurorus It's not good but it has clear unique characteristics to distinguish it from other Pokemon, legit the biggest thing holding it back is Gamefreak won't put it in a fucking game until the legendary meta.
