Only the first two gens needed remakes in the first place since they aged like milk. You can play any of the games after that in their original forms and they're still excellent.

My schizo headcanon is that PLAshit originally was going to be the gen 4 remake but Sinnoh was too big to be remade fully in nu pokemon style and it wasn't going to finished in time.
BDSP was outsourced to Asian sweat shops and PLA released as a half assed new series.

BDSS is better than HGSS simply by being remakes of vastly superior games. HGSS gets way too much credit despite not actually fixing GSC's most glaring flaws. People just like the idea of having pokemon follow them around because the rest of the game is trash.

It's less that they no longer want to do remakes but more that they want to do experimental or minimalist remakes so they can put full focus on their major titles considering how vicious Switch development has been for them that SWSH was a technical disaster and SV even more so, which is how we get shit like LGPE or BDSP.

SandLand looks better than anything GameFreak has ever done. If anything Masuda's meddling made BDSP so shit. ILCA's concept art hint towards a 3D remake but GF didn't want ILCA to make PLA look like the half baked unfinished game it is and they botched BDSP.

it's not just the mechanics, the jraphics and music was also in desperate need of an update
gen 3 was impressive at the time but in almost every regard it straddles the line of being too old and outdated to play on its own merits but also not being retro like the GB games. so it just ends up looking, sounding, and feeling like shit.

Normally, a company would see the criticism and do the opposite. Sounds like they just don't understand business decisions-- shills were asking for a "SWSH-style" remake and got exactly that. BDSP was just as lazy, half-assed, and redundant as SWSH was. Mission accomplished.

Like I said. "Remakes" are a thing of the past. You won't see old games remade in whatever new engine GF is using. BDSP is a perfect example of this, they outsourced it.
ORAS was the last remake, and it sucks that remakes ended in such a low note.
