With shops in every town? Cities with department stores and casinos? Cities with ritzy cafes, restaurants, and salons? Just because Pokemon Centers don't charge you, doesn't mean it's a commie utopia. Everything else is run with money like normal.

Unless you are a Pokémon. Evolution has nothing to do with age.

You can live your entire life as a Baby Pokémon, never Evolving, having never fought a single Battle and stay as cute as the day you hatched or you could be a fully Evolved, max Level and completely ready for Battle without even being a day old.
