BW is just for the "new" dex (it's 10 years old, unironically less novelty than DP at this point).
So it's down to Plat vs HGSS vs BW2.
It's not that BW2 is bad, but no Frontier just sucks, PWT is just ok. BW2's pokedex is fun though and the early move tutors are nice to have. Unova starters are all pretty underwhelming, I guess you can teach Emboar some cool stuff.
Plat's dex lacks in variety but I feel Plat's teambuilding is still underrated. It's surprising easy to get a lucky egg, you got the underground for fossils, shards, heart scales, and evolution items, the move tutor isn't postgame, and it's easy to grind money to buy Game Corner tms and levels with the VS Seeker. There's also the Frontier. Sinnoh's starters are the most fun by far, I mean you can put Stealth Rocks on your Infernape.
HGSS has good dex variety. Grinding for levels and items is generally slower in HGSS compared to Platinum. HGSS has the best side content and the Frontier also. Starters are decent, Meganium is underrated.
Really hard for me to pick between Platinum and HGSS here. Maybe HGSS beats Platinum by a hair, the optional content is really good.
