What people don't realize is that the reason 2024 is an empty year is because Pokemon's 30th anniversary is in 2026, just in time for Pokemon's 10th generation.
Nintendo probably advised GameFreak understanding that an anniversary game needs to actually be worth a shit, especially if it's going to be one of the big system sellers for the Switch 2, and rather than allow another SV-tier technical disaster, they're going to try their damndest to help GameFreak adapt to the new hardware and make something presentable that they can proudly showcase alongside the new 3D Mario, Mario Kart, Animal Crossing, Splatoon 4, Metroid Prime 4 and whatever the fuck else will be in the Switch 2's first couple of years.

Nintendo front the budget for core Pokémon games, part of the original agreement Nintendo and Game Freak drew up when Tajiri had this idea he was calling "Capsule Monsters".
Meaning as long as Game Freak release a game, Nintendo are 100% behind them. Nintendo DON'T see pokémon as anything other than a kiddy IP they can use to garner constant easy sales (GBA and 3DS sales were driven by pokénigs, in case you forgot. MK DID top the overall chart, but MK was one solitary title selling 18.98m, while Pokémon sold 56.83m. Nintendo don't give a fuck about (You)r issues, distasdtes or "problems" with Pokémoon, because it's doing what they want it to - attract the mass-market casualfag sales, who buy in because "hey, new Pokémon!".
