In fact this probably only isnt true for gen 5 onwards which are the least known.

Not when mr mime and jynx exist. It also isnt the most preferred pokedex when it comes to polls, only the most known.

Even a fucking random american grandpas and japanese WW2 survivor knows the kanto dex. But the gen 4 dex is easily the most popular.

The tumbleweed would work (as a mimic) if SV were highly detailed and didn't have these things stick out like a sore thumb. Dexcut has made it all irrelevant thoughsoever.
