Terapagos
>was hyped to hell by speculation pre-release of his DLC

Terapagos might be the biggest dropped ball in Pokemon lore ever, I'm kind of glad I never have to hear anyone talking about le plot device turtle because he shows how fucking bad GF is as writing.

Terapagos was a total flop. Nothing to let the player actually bond with it like the bikes/Ogerpon. Hyped up along with the other mysteries of area zero, to just being a nothingburger “reveal” that it created the gimmick aka what the game already told us. Viability as a restricted legendary slot tied to a gimmick that will be gone next gen, whereas Ogerpon isn’t restricted and still has uses without its tera gimmick.

Just a bland gimmickmon through and through.

The only third legends that are “unloved” by comparison to their main duos were Necrozma and Terapagos, and that’s mostly because Nebby and Agias each had an entire game’s worth time to be endearing to the player.

Older gen third legends are basically on par with the main duo in terms of popularity (or even higher) because legendaries then were basically kaiju that didn’t show up until the climax of the plot.

Rayquaza is beloved shilled to this day too
Zygarde is a weird one because it got swept under the rug

The ones people don't care much about are Kyurem and Eternatus I think

Liko, Roy and co are going to reach Rakua/most likely Area Zero, which is Turtle's home to find out about that ancient hero guy. But right now the search for it is on pause so that the kids can get stronger with the Tera gimmick.

ogerpon got all the focus in the teal mask. terapagos barely has any impact on the indigo disk. it just shows up at the end.
