This game is Pokemon Odyssey, a self described fusion of Pokemon, Etrian Odyssey, and Made in Abyss. It features a new story and region heavily inspired by the stratums of the Etrian Odyssey games, complete with FOEs and plenty of remixes of Etrian music.
After that horrible last fucking game we did, this one looks really good. Let's see if it lives up to expectations...

there are the endgame superboss fights after the credits where in all games except 4 and 5 if you don't bring a minmaxed no fun uber DPS party you will basically be oneshot, but you don't have to fight them and there's plenty of guides to beat all of them

4th try. It was still annoying as shit even with Pelipper because Venusaur is seemingly precognizant and would OHKO it with Sludge Bomb on switchin and then Sableye would just reset the sun. Roserade was also a very big problem for my team with the type chart changes as well. I ended up winning by abusing Gen 3 doubles mechanics to have Wiggs fire TWaves into the slot of something dying to pre-para them as they come in. Luckily Lapras had the answer for Entei, but only if I could keep it protected for the rest of the fight.

The idea I guess is that you'd play story and then even an unoptimized Fafnir would allow you to do enough burst damage to shave off the bloated HP bars.
But you really should just play Classic, it's less cringe overall and feels more balanced on Normal mode. Maybe just shift to Normal difficulty for bosses only and stay Expert the rest of the time

Do you also need to be reminded that bosses like Chimera, Scylla and Juggernaut have puzzles to reduce their maximum HP? Do you remember what the gimmick of the Juggernaut fight is? You know the part where he buffs everyone's damage output, and the trick is to take advantage of his buffs before he uses King's Rush.
Next, the "story mode" thing makes you sound like someone who dropped out of the mid 10s since you're regurgitating the same bullshit excuses from players who refuse to look at the overall game environment. Not only is the damage output for the player side higher in general to match that of the other games in general, burst got reworked, grimoires and meals also exist as well. The story team is also worse than a properly made classic team for quite some time because Fafnir/Flavio are generally busy feeding the damage from Link Order/Ailing Slash for 60% of the game while they wait for their tools to come online.
I could go on but this is something that should be saved for /eog/ over in /vg/.

I'm not even sure how I'm getting through this fight, Skarmory spams Iron Defense and refuses to die, I can't use Magnemite (soon to be Magneton) to deal with it because of the Gligar, Gligar doesn't take any damage from anything and has Bulldoze, the fucker then follows up with a Nidoking that keeps spamming Earth Power and Shock Wave, which pretty much deletes every single Pokemon I have from from existence besides Cradily and Cradily can't deal with it because Skarmory refuses to die and keeps spamming Steel Wing, I guess it's grinding time.

i do wish this game could have leaned more into the puzzle aspect of FOEs from etrian odyssey instead of just stealthing around them, as in that game FOEs will only move when you move but also can sometimes have their own rules and such, but it's naturally very limited what you can do with pokemon overworld movement kek

kek yeah, very easy if you do a lot of preparation
i didn't even need to use vitamins, just the power items sitting on reserve were good enough for the EVs. rain dance armaldo fucked her up and once the typhlosion came out and got hit to 1 HP from a rock slide it was pretty much over
