The only good mario-derived american character was ratchet from ratchet and clank, and even then their constant LGBT AIDS jokes in a game that targets children is very questionable.
Mario is american. Yes, hes american. Italian americans arent a thing and almost always theyre mexicans with 0.1% italian blood or none claiming to be italian. But Nintendo still never intended for Mario to actually BE american. Hes just this short gnome guy that lives in a fantasyland.
But the last mario movie is american and like all the other mario american animations it was: garbagio supremo
