I got through it no problem before there were good maps online. Union Cave filtered me for a very long time though, ended up with a typhlosion so over leveled it soloed everything the rest of the game.

Zoomers don't like ice sliding puzzles unless they can easily look up a video or diagram of where to enter the ice and what sequence of slides to take.

I remember everyone having trouble with the puzzle at the ruins of alphabet because there were 2 puzzle tiles that pretty much looked exactly the same on kabuto that you had to switch. I witnessed so many kids fucked this up first hand it I always knew what the problem was, remember just telling them to flip those 2 every time.

When I was a kid it literally took me weeks to figure out the sliding part at the bottom after you push down all the boulders. When I was replaying the games a couple years ago I literally laughed out loud after I got through the whole thing in 2 minutes. I was a dumb fucking kid, it really isn't very hard

if your internal battery is dry you'll never get to play it, so if you didn't do it back then, it's next to impossible now

(yes I know you can swap your CR2032 battery with some effort but most people don't do this)

Johto is a poorly designed region and they wanted an ice area before Clair so you had more options for her dragon types, so they shoved in an ice cave before Blackthorn.
