HA changed from Rain Dish to Mega Launcher
Hydro Pump is now a Pulse move

83 speed means after a Shell Smash, a max speed Blastoise now hits 582 speed, which is faster than every unboosted pokemon, and faster than boosted mons with less than 127 base speed. Combine that with a stronger STAB to use with Mega Launcher and he can punch some holes.

This. The other gen 1 starters have secondary types (Venusaur = poison, Charizard = flying), and if Lucario can be steel type because of a few spikes, then Blastoise can be steel type because of his cannons.

And even the LG Eevee are better
The only way to fix Pikachu is to make the light ball double all his base stats.

Blastoise should be really slow but have high defense and special attack. Instead it's just middling everywhere. Gen 1 was funny like that, half the dex had base stats like golduck and the other half had stat spreads like chansey and akalakazm.

One thing I've noticed is that Gen 1 Pokemon tend to stick out in the anime artstyle since they switched to Digital.
It feels like a product of the original cell anime, so you notice many of them have "shines" on them whereas that is rare with Gen 2 onwards.
