I rarely have female Pokémon in my team.
If I'm just capturing to fill out dex entries I don't typically care about whether it's male or female but if I'm going to use them for battling I go out of my way to make sure they're male, unless their design is feminine looking.
I know it doesn't make sense but I still do it.
