It's way better than people give it credit for. Tajiri wanted to recreate the experience of a young kid being given the freedom to traverse a region slowly being overtaken by urban development and the problems that creates (delinquency, crime, pollution) and it definitely nails that vibe

The originals of a long running series will always hold a place of fondness in the hearts of the developers and the fans. It is simply the natural order of things.
Please do not behave so churlishly about this. Generation 1 having many remakes does not take away from the existence of your favourite generation.

Johto will get a third remake because it has never been in 3D and Hoenn will get one because its remake is on the 3DS and that can never be ported over to future consoles due to the dual screen stuff.

Why would it be questioned? We know why, the first game is self explanatory, the second was to make pokemon that were missing in gen 3 available and the third was to grab the nostalgic audience who came back to the series through Go

Nu-fans only hate Johto because GSC and HGSS are considered old Pokemon and highly regarded by older fans. Once Johto gets a remake, Johto will become nu-Pokemon and the nu-fans will defend it at all costs, especially because a modern remake of GS won't live up to HGSS and the old fans will complain about that.
