Building a competitive team in Gens 3/4 could be a pain in the ass, making it difficult have success in the Frontier. Now, it's easier than ever to build a competitive team in-game, meaning it would be easier than ever to get into the Battle Frontier, but Game Freak seems to be scrapping Battle Facilities entirely because "muh phones".

Losing to bullshit RNG isn't fun. GF is an incompetent dev team so they can't make good AI, instead they rely on cheesing you to death with OHKO moves and accuracy fuckery to make things challenging. It was also damn near impossible to get perfect stats back then unless you injected your whole team so you're at a statistical disadvantage.

Because it was way easier to have the Battle Maison for every 3DS Pokemon game. I think even Gamefreak realized how lazy they were being so they threw in a random important NPC in there to excuse playing the same shit again; like "Hey look, Wally and Red showed up! It's totally new and not lazy!"
