the best lesson to take from ten years ago is that megas should be kept to two- or three-stage lines that are already somewhat complete instead of single-stagers. not just because it screws them out of a proper evolution, but also because the wow factor of learning a pokemon can evolve even further is lost when they couldn't evolve in the first place.
the ideal candidate would be a pokemon in need of a buff that has already been screwed out of the possibility of a new evolution, because it's already part of a three stage line. and it has to be from kantoooooo, of course. which is why I choose Wigglytuff.

One of the few kantomon to never get nothing, no cross gen evo, mega, regional form, or dynamaxed form and it's one of the ones that need it most. Maybe a bug/ghost type that is undead but free of the mushroom's influence on it

I'm actually running a shiny Purugly in Legends: Arceus, and it's really something. I rely on it like I do my starter Typhlosion. Mega Purugly would be an absolute menace. Choice taste, OP.

Mega Dragonite would be great, since its base design is meh/borderline downie, and with the introduction of Fairy-type Pokemon and movesets, it's not the same threat it used to be, so it could use the Mega.

As a bugfag I would support a venomoth mega too, it having quiver dance snd tinted lens just helps it need it a little less then Parasect does. I would love to see any early game bug from gen 1-4 that never got anything get a mega really.
