Doing a proper remake nowadays is too many much work for poor little Game Freak because it would have to be on the scale of SwSh or SV. They need to break the 3 year mainline dev cycle, honestly 1 gen per console is enough.

Swsh onwards are fully 3d overworlds with free movement and perspective. adapting a birds eye, grid based game into full 3d would mean completely remaining the region from the ground up and would require far more resources and dev time than previous remakes.

PLA was successful in doing what Kek's Go Pikachu and Eevee tried to do with the catching.
Being able to go around and dodge mon's attacks, the artstyle being nice, going around exploring, having more immersive battles is infinitely better than just another remake.

BDSP was only made because GameFreak strayed too far with PLA. BDSP was always damage control and nothing else. PLA is the actual remake, it's just that you autists don't see it because it doesn't fit into your remake name mold.

They did do this. Legends Arceus was originally the DP remakes but partway through development they realised the game was so radically different from the originals they decided to retool it, and then outsourced the remakes so they could focus on LA
