>>55940891>Serena had a character development unlike the other girls with the contestantsShe has the weakest of the three, if that can even be called 'character development'.
>MayStarts her journey just because she likes traveling and uses Pokemon as an excuse to be able to do so. Starts to warm up to Pokemon by meeting Ash, but she's still unsure of what to do.
She learns about Contests and tries to compete, she's still unsure if this is the right path for her but decides to keep competing and builds her confidence as she meets new people and catches more Pokemon.
Her rivalry with Drew has an amazing development that Amourshippers wish Ash/Serena had.
Not only May uses her rivalry as a motivation to keep competing to prove Drew that she's not garbage, but along the way they both realize they are attracted to each other.
By the end, May is a very different person, she's more mature, her relationship with her rivals changed, she has a decent team, still sees Ash as a mentor but she's also aware of her own worth and value in the field she picked.
>DawnStarts off dreaming big because she's the daughter of a Top Coordinator, but is also pretty shallow and doesn't realize that travelling requires great adaptation skills and more maturity than she currently has.
She soon realizes that Contests are no joke and she needs to work hard to accomplish her dream. She develops a great relationship with Ash and unlike May, hers is more of a give-and-take because they both learn skills from the other and train together despite having different dreams.
She learns the hard way that while it's okay to feel sad after a defeat, you must learn from it and understand that nor failure nor success define you, only working hard towards your dreams does.
At the end, she too is different from how she was, she's more mature, still girly but also able to adapt to any situation, has a very good team, feels an equal to Ash and they have a mutual understanding of each other's strengths.
