They should have made a pokemon version for every line during gen 1, all in the span of 1-2 years during peak pokemania. So you could have a version with poliwrath on the cover, pokemon pink with clefairy, pokemon brown with onix, purple with alakazam, etc. All they had to do was change a few lines of codes and they could have been selling 50 different versions of the game in peak mania and everyone would have eaten it up even more. Who didn't want pokemon black with gengar on the cover? All they had to do was change the cover and a few spawns for each one.
