Even anime like Naruto, and the ashnime itself prove that women often prefer shows with a male lead and male/male rivalry over shows that focus on girls.
Most of the females who are into shows that focus on girls are either below the age of 13 or very into idol groups/culture. Or have a case of severe majokko childhood nostalgia.
