I could swap all eeveelutions in Unite for any other quadruped of the same type and it wouldn't make any difference.
Plus, there's also the anime, which is the biggest source of manipulation in this franchise, and it's difficult to make a quadruped look cool there. And of course, the only outliers are the canines that always appears, the franchise mascot and one of the best starters in the first stage.
