>>55952769>the appeal of pokemon is having complete control over your adventure and the way in which you approach it.ok, so if gameplay freedom is the core philosophy of pokemon (it isn't), then what if the way I want to approach it is to use just mewtwo and beat the kanto gyms in reverse order?
oh? what's that? I'm forced to beat the pewter gym first? I can't even just use mewtwo because HMs force me to use specific pokemon? im not even allowed to go straight to cerulean cave and catch mewtwo? so I have to have someone else trade a mewtwo to me in order to use it before beating the game? and I can't even have it obey my commands in battle unless I can get all of the badges?
okay, so I guess I don't have complete control over my adventure, and gamefreak is in fact forcing me to play the game a certain way. so much for freedom.
learning the strengths and weaknesses of your pokemon and learning how to make the best of them sounds a hell of a lot more in line with what gamefreak actually wants pokemon to be than just 'uhhh beat up 10 audino with my unevolved rattata until i can oneshot teh gym leeder with tackle'
if you want to play a game where you're allowed to throw together whatever team you want and sweep the game without a second thought, be my guest, but the existence of a fanmade game encouraging you to better learn and utilize the battle system instead of obtusely slapping yourself against the same wild pokemon until you numbers get bigger is not antithetical to the series by any stretch of the imagination, and other devs should not have to bend over backwards solely to appease what you think a game is supposed to be
