All the anime did to femprotags was ruin them with shipping.
May and Dawn dodged it at least by getting dumb sibling vibes.
Iris was plain annoying.
Alola crew were school buddies.
Misty and Serena were ruined for a tearful sendof after Jhoto and muh shonen protag wankery which could have been resolved by introducing a non Canon femprotag that only apes Serena.
