These general problems aside, there's a number of issues with the franchise. Poor quality games have made a lot of us jaded. Almost everyone who still cares have long since left, and probably won't return until something good is made. /vp/ also has the youngest audience on 4chan(the average age being younger than the board itself.)
I'm sure that someone far more eloquent else could elaborate on these points in greater details, but these are the things I noticed myself.
