legends arceus Is the closest thing you’ll ever get to a true "gotta catch’em all" game. Even the original rby couldnt pull that off.

Let's Go came pretty close at the time of release. Go was free so it wasn't hard to fill the gaps in your dexes completion (unless you wanted a Melmetal, fucking hell). The newer games are pretty generous with raids, though. I only really had to trade with SwSh for the horsey, Zamazenta and a couple version exclusives here and there as many showed up in raids.
Fuck raids, though.

The whole idea of Pokemon came partially from the link cable enabling you to trade monsters with other people. The version exclusives and trade evos are meant to encourage players to trade.

Given they're making another, I'd heavily bet those mechanics are going to be kept to Legends titles instead.
As much you want them to evolve the core games, they;'re still going to keep them EXACTLY as what kept the series going this past 28 years. Because that formula is PROVEN to work and while L: A did get wide acclaim for its gameplay, it still wasn't supported by the overall, nor did it best any of the core game pair sales totals.

I'm worried that if they do keep the Legends series going, they're basically gonna do what they do with the main series and remove features just for the sake of keeping the game "unique."

its not a gimmick though, you can catch pokemon without damaging them if low catch rate and level so you should just be able to throw pokeballs in the overworld without entering the battle scene it makes sense for 3d especially when you have the pokemon visible

Finally giving us a way to evolve trade evolutions without trading was amazing.
