The franchise has pivoted the weekly anime demographic shift to females & probably felt 25 years of the original male audience is more than enough.

I think they should have kept the male audience, while at the same time, get a genki female protagonist to better attract the female audience.

I miss 1999 when the weekly Pokemon anime was more daring.

2023 weekly Pokemon anime on the other hand, is too polite & safe in the name of being more "family friendly" to fit modern trends.

Yeah
At least there were 2 filler episodes in JN that pays homage to Japanese culture. I was happy to see that being kept for so long in the Ashnime.

In Horizons filler episodes however, you don't get any of these which to me, is a flaw.

The dub episode titles in Horizons I felt is too generic, as in it is a direct translation of the nip title itself. There is no playing with the words.

The Ashnime dub episode titles had a more "creative" touch even when translated.
