Managed to pull through the second round via getting Moxie and Metal Claw attack boosts against him, I had to rely on a bit of RNG to set up against his Pineco but it was more interested in spamming hazards than actually doing damage so it went fine, the Kubfu and the Farfetch'd are the real issues, Farfetch'd hits like a truck, gets defense boosts way too easily, heals and has crit bullshit, it's a very shitty fight, thankfully Rookidee managed to outspeed it, the Kubfu is stacked with high BST and some very powerful moves by this point in the game, but it really can't do much against Flying types, that or the AI had a massive hiccup, not sure which.

I have better luck with "spinoff" fangames.
Like puzzle ones, nonstandard adventures/rpgs, that one school sim VN, and a lot of management sims (ex: gym leader, daycare, item shop). A rare few Mystery Dungeon-style games (discounting romhacks which again vary like hell in terms of quality and bullshit). The fighting game "Type Wild".

Pokemon Island is a bit of a weird middleground. It's a Gym Region but with a single city hub area.

I could maybe buy this if most of the bugs were isolated to side shit or things that people wouldn't commonly touch, like I could maybe see Meowscarada's signature being overlooked, but a lot of the bugs just happened doing a normal playthrough of the game during the story or mandatory battles
and that's ignoring things like spelling and grammar mistakes which all '50 playtesters' should have seen or reported (if you're telling me that the final script is what got through after 50 separate people playing for 3 months read it, holy fucking shit, there must have priginally been spelling errors every single dialogue box or something) or even things like sound mixing issues which can be verified outside of the game even

there's maybe a handful of people who have criticized his gameplay and even fewer for the story, the feedback channels on his discord are mostly empty and what critiques in them are barely anything at all

Hell, it's not really absurd to do story-wise either, since the reniggades already have that shit, you could just get the device off the one faggot in the woods with Rylas and artificially limit it because 'too much will le kill your pokemon' or something, or have the academy reverse engineer it and give you one of the first safer prototypes

Cutscenes drag on forever.
Plot is somewhere between stupid and interesting. Dev used a bunch of weird shit cut from canon as inspiration for the fucked up situation where Pokemon World was originally Normal Earth but Pokemon became a thing over time.
Trainers have fairly high mons for starting areas and the wild mons are also fairly high. There's no free PokeCenter so you're kinda fucked as this chucklefuck wants $500 and items all cost money but you get maybe $50-60 from nearby trainers and you can lose $120 if you screw up. I found that if you white out against a wild mon your mons reset to full health with no loss to your wallet.

Could be better. Probably will improve as I go on. I've played worse fangames though so I'll bear with it until I see how the first 'gym' equivalent goes.

they were supposed to catch spelling/grammar errors, and there's so many of those. maybe you could argue that fixing some spelling errors would make new ones by accident but it's way too frequent
i really don't think they did anything at all other than try to get early copies. vanguard actually had a basic 'tester sign up form' that apparently allowed easy access into the beta too, all that does is attract bottom feeders instead of anyone you know to be reliable (though i doubt he knew anyone like that either kek)

The dialogue spam is still as awful as ever, the quests are so terribly handled that it's laughable, the story is not terrible but it's really poorly told, the characters are either forgettable or insufferable, the progression is terrible, the choice and point metrics are handled so badly that I'm almost impressed by how awful it is, the difficulty is kaizo tier misery a lot of the time, this game feels like it was intentionally designed to make whoever plays it angry and miserable and this game requires so much investment to get into in the first place, which just makes it worse. Big part of the reason I quit this game before (besides the first time being thanks to a certain retard throwing a fit and raiding the thread) is because I'm already very stressed by default and I have to constantly get off my ass to do my job or some chores, I want to have fun when I play games, Empire is not fun, in the slightest, it's miserable, down to every last aspect and thanks to what I already said about it being so rushed, it gets no playtesting, this game is so bug ridden and broken.

There's no testing done in regards to anything, there's so many Pokemon that still have no cries, so many switches that are still broken or barely functional, so many events that are mind boggling in their implementation, because you have to wonder how stupid someone would have to be to ever think something like that would be a good idea. Everything that happens after Toliman is pain, Rastaban aka the desert section is bad, it's so bad that I cannot stress how miserable it is, especially if you're just playing the game constantly, you 're going to be beyond drained if you reach that section. I guess before I rant even more, I'll finish the review by going over chapter 11, it's bleh, it's not as painful as some of the things that already passed, but it's whatever, it feels like Octavius finally learned some lessons, but very little, I feel like this update was heavily inspired by Perish Song, which is good, but it's extremely disjointed and the requirements of progression are atrocious and I'm not sure how anyone in their-

so far though, it is just an absolute annoyance to play. every boss using maxed EVs and bullfuck nonsense like minimize is horrible, you get barely any money whatsoever to pay for repels to get through routes covered in grass, and the story is just...bad, i mean i don't know, part of that is because the dev is clearly ESL and didn't even try to have someone in english proofread his stuff, i can barely tell what half the fucking characters are saying and the pacing is just outright bad. it feels very reminiscent of vanguard too, and not in a good way.
every solo dev in the universe will suffer this - get a team, get some fucking playtesters, if you're the only one playtesting your shit, unless you're absurdly careful you're probably going to miss where you need to convey basic info to people who don't know your game inside and out, such as the fucking marill EV cancer, or how if you don't immediately train a machop/makuhita you're probably going to be stuck grinding a shit ton for the first fucking boss. i imagine otherwise, this game is going to go down some kind of void-esque route where it'll become outright fucking unfun and garbage to play but if you have the insight of the dev you could maybe make it through okay.

i don't know, i'm genuinely curious to see if this will go anywhere, but i don't really have high hopes or anything. it's at least better and more polished than a lot of other demos i've done like armistice or repudiation (i think it was, that game with the fire ballerina first gym) that couldn't even have bothered to have functional maps, so this could just be a starting hiccup
