If you're talking about Se Jun's Magmar, I can promise you very few people at the time knew that it had an impossible IV spread (although there were other signs it was hacked, like having a female OT in Gales). A decade of documentation and understanding about how Pokemon are generated later means it's easier to point out inconsistencies.
The other factor, as other anons have pointed out, is that getting good Pokemon took an inordinate amount of time in 2013. RNG for Gen 5 games was pretty well documented at that time (and I believe Gen 4), but trying to get a Pokemon from Gen 3, or even a gen 4 or 5 Pokemon if you didn't know how to RNG , was a nightmare considering how primitive breeding was and the need to soft reset for legends. Genning cut all of the time out of this often lengthy process, so it became normalized within the community. GameFreak has made it way easier to make legitmate mons competitive with the QoL it's introduced over the years, but it's still easier to just make up a Pokemon in pkhex and inject it or have a bot trade it to you like this retard clearly did.
