Almost always Venusaur but sometimes I'll end up with Charizard instead.

If I'm lucky enough to find Pikachu in Viridian Forest then I'll use Raichu, otherwise I'll evolve Eevee into Jolteon.
>Flying-type
This will be Pidgeot most of the time, but if I didn't pick Venusaur then I'll usually swap this out for a Victreebel after Charmeleon evolves.
>Ground-type
Usually Dugtrio, unless I've already evolved a Sandshrew before reaching Diglett's Cave in which case I'll use Sandslash instead. I always think I might try Golem in this slot, but it never ends up happening because Dugtrio is just so convenient.
>Water-type
If I already have Pikachu when I get to Celadon, this will be Vaporeon. If I'm using Jolteon though, then I'll use Lapras instead.
>The sixth team member
Generally just ends up being something I caught along the way that ended up getting used in battle more often than expected. Gengar, Snorlax, Flareon, Butterfree, Alakazam, a lot of different Pokémon have occupied this slot.
