I mean for fucks sake, if you can add Ash, Jessie and James I don't think digging into more of the extra canonical content to find interesting and unique units is a bad idea, would be a damn sight better than the Sygna Suits since I don't care for way too many of them.
Could have some cool shit like a Lovrina with a Shadow Altaria that has unique moves and effects to tie into being a Shadow Mon. You could have Solana from Ranger with a Plusle who has a special Discharge like in the game that stuns all opposing Mon for a couple turns. Hell, you could dig into the Manga and have some shit like Red using his special Eevee that shifts into Vaporeon, Jolteon and Flareon for different typed attacks or Electric Tale of Pikachu Ash where the gimmick is his Charizard or Pikachu or whatever is depicted in the manga's style.
