The odd broken mon releases her or there, but most recent releases like Mimikyu, Blaziken, Meowscarada, and Metagross actually released decently UNDERpowered and to get buffs (sometimes multiple, in the case of Blaziken and Metagross) in order to be in a decent position. Hell, the strongest mon in the game right now (Tyranitar) was added over a year ago and had to be BUFFED into it's recent position of dominance.
