>>56007573>Anyone that actually played them and did more that mindlessly consoomI'm not saying that XY are bad overall, I'm saying they were the clearest marker of the trend of the games slowly going downhill. And, for the record, I believe that XY were OK; not fantastic, not terrible. But, since you feel the need to edit the context out of my posts to suit your agenda, you've clearly already made up your mind and there's no point in arguing with you further.
>>56007608It's true, that was happening as far back as gen 3. I myself did not play Emerald or Platinum, mostly because I was disappointed that Crystal turned out to be so similar overall to Gold/Silver (never played Yellow). I probably should have, especially Platinum, but so it goes.
I agree with the sentiment regarding gen 6 and beyond, and it's been true for quite a long time now that the games have been beholden to the marketing needs of the larger franchise (anime, TCG, plushes/figures, etc), not to mention that features like you mentioned (HOME, emphasis on multiplayer, decline in singleplayer activities) are as emblematic of a larger trend in video games as they are a problem with Pokemon itself. What I'm hoping for is the recognizance by even the casual players that the game series has gotten so bad now over the last several gens that the series is just bad now and they'll start demanding better. Maybe gen 10 will fix that, maybe it won't; I personally suspect that gen 10 is being delayed not because of any quality concerns but because that lines up with the 30th anniversary of the franchise. All I can do now is wait and see.
